NATURAL DYEING FIBRES AND FABRICS
This slow process allows for connection by foraging for plant matter for natural dyes and eco prints on fabric, infusing cloth with plants so that we can cloak ourselves in their medicinal essences. It brings to our awareness our connection with the environment, with colour, with production, with energy, with nature, with our Self.
Offerings (both involve depth and therapeutic nature of the this process):
- Personalised commissions - I can create according to an individual to upcycle old clothing or using sustainably sourced fabric for scarves. Working together, we can discover what plant essences, colours and fabrics suits their desires before I create the gift. Care is taken to using sustainable resources, appropriately foraged plants, solar power or fire powered heat, and responding to the call of a commission rather than mass producing.
- Exploring the process further - Learning the medicine of the process with me via online mentoring (text or Skype call) to prepare and in person sessions making together. This is for you to form your own practice and choices. Groups may be organised with interest!
WEAVING
There is a delicate beauty to gathering, dyeing and processing natural fibres to then weave into baskets, mats, bags and more. Learning with master weavers from North East Arnhem Land and experienced teachers on the east coast, we can explore the ancient journey towards co-creating and deepening your connection with nature.
EARTH ALTARS
Gathering natural materials to create a sacred arrangement, nature mandalas, ephemeral land art, are embedded in the ground. Connecting with the natural materials, we form a bond where memories, meaning and reflections are held in the natural colours, patterns, shapes and textures available in nature.
Offerings:
- Unique commission artworks and altars for special events, i.e. birthdays, birthing ceremonies, blessingways, workshops and celebrations
- Individual sessions to create a personal artwork to honour a transition
- Group works for retreats, workshops and events allowing a collaborative piece to form from guided meditations, mindfulness art, individual flavours and a united vision. Great for connecting to each other, team building and group forming.
EARTHEN MASONRY
Using clay, sand and natural materials to create art and building structures, such as rocket stoves, cob cubby houses, painting with ochre and other mud fun! This is about community, we are stronger together and can have fun together as we build! It is empowering for people of all ages to come together to physically cocreate within natural building, music therapy, and story telling.
Offerings:
- Community projects with kids, youth, schools and families including mud stomps, music therapy, mud brick natural building, outdoor games, youth leadership and empowerment, with SOL Illawarra Mud Fun Australia.
